Nami Island

Our first stop in South Korea would be in Nami Island. Located in Bangha-ri, Namsan-myeon, an island of the Bukhangang River, which was made as a result of the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam. Its circumference is about 6Km, and its area is 430,000. There are a grassplot of 260,000 in the center of the island, and chest-nut trees are popular in this place.A good place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

How to get there: There are 3 ways via

Bus :   Guri/Donong three-way junction -> Maseok -> Saeteo -> Daeseong-ri -> Cheongpyeong -> turn right according to Nami Island sign in Gapyeong

Train:  Take the subway to Cheongnangyi subway station at Line 1. Exit the station, follow the signboard to Cheongnangyi Station. Buy a ticket to Gapyeong station. The ticket cost 3,800 won one way and is a 1.5 hour ride. The train interval is every hour.

We rode the ferry wharf for around 15 mins.which is quite quick.

Ferry wharf : You need to buy the ferry ticket which includes the Nami Island entry ticket, total is 8,000 won. The ferry ride is another 5-10 minutes.Cost of the ferry is 3,500 won which leaves every 15 min.

Upon the entrance a warm bonfire will greet you which is very nice, because of the weather it seems that the coats are not enough to make us warm.

Upon walking along the wharf , you can find the grave of General Nami - named after the island.

There are many things that you can do here too. You can have a picnic with the family, rent some bicycles, enjoy a train ride, feed some animals, read a book (I was surprised to find out that there are some spots in the park with some children's books or novel books.Even children won't be bored going here.) Or one can just walk around and enjoy the scenery.

The famous trees of Nami island,Cecil told us that these trees are really nice during the Autumn Season (the colors of the leaves from the tree is very festive -shades of orange hues.) The best season to visit South Korea is during this time- not to cold nor hot.

We found some animals following us while walking along the tree paths too :)

Amazed at how close you can be with nature.

Nami Island is a very romantic place. you can find many couples visiting this park too. It became more famous because of the Korean TV drama Winter Sonata in 2002.

You won't get hungry while strolling along the park, there are many restaurants and street food here. They are selling ice cream, chestnuts, corn dogs, corn and waffles. YUM!

We had our lunch at a local restaurant where they served Koream Bulgogi - mixed beef with side dishes  of kimchi, radishes, salad, soup, rice and Nori.

I would love to visit this place again so I can just walk around and be one with nature. I love the photos that I took and I am looking forward to my next visit again soon.
So from Korea with Love, Anyeonghaseyo!

With SkinWhite, I Can Be the Fairest of Them All

Fairy tales are part of a little girls dream. I remember Snow White to be one of my favorite Princesses of all time. Who would ever forget her story. It has different versions coming from different countries in Europe, the best known German version is by the Brothers Grimm in 1812 featuring the magic mirror, poisoned apple, glass coffin and the seven dwarfs. And as time pass by in 1937 Disney reinvented the classic fairy tale which almost all of the children know by heart. And now it's 2012 - a New Snow White will be on the big screen.

Snow White and the Huntsman will be played by Twilight Saga's leading actress Kristen Steward,Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman and Charlize Theron as a malevolent evil queen. The end will be a final battle between our Snow White and the Evil Queen . I heard and read good reviews about this movie and I am excited to see it.

Thanks to Nuffnang Philippines- they are giving away tickets to the exclusive screening of Snow White and the Huntsman. So if you want to have a fair rosy white skin as Snow White? Here's how.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?" Of course it's non other than Snow White, her rosy white cheeks was surely irresistible.A girl can never go wrong with a complexion as fair as this princess.

How does SkinWhite give you that beautiful blush white skin that your prince charming

Fly to Seoul!

Last March 26 we were able to go to South Korea with the whole family. We were a group of  7 adults and 3 kids. We took the earliest flight going to Incheon, South Korea at 1a.m. and arrived in Seoul at 5:45 a.m. via Cebu Pacific. We had a tour package with AMIABLE TOURS - this agency have been our travel agency for the past 6 years and the owner have been a good friend already.Out tour consisted of a 6 days 5 nights South Korea tour with complete meals, hotel accommodations, theme park tickets, entrances and coach transfers. So we had a worry free tour. This is one suggestion that I can advise to first time travelers in Korea, one main reason is that the language barrier. Yes, I can assure you that being in a foreign land can be quite a hassle especially if you cannot speak their language. Although a lot of Korean students can speak English now a days, it is still difficult to communicate with the locals once your there. We decided to get the complete package because we want to just relax and enjoy a worry free vacation, after all that is what vacation is about.

Back to my story, I wasn't able to sleep at the whole flight itself, but I'm glad that the kids were able to take a nap and was asleep the entire trip which is good for them. I don't want them to be all cranky during the 1st day of our vacation.  I was really excited for this trip and I was longing for it for the past 5 months. Why? because I booked our flight 5 months ahead of our departure time so I can prepare our grand trip. Take note of this because it will save you enough money if you book flights ahead of time.Cebu Pacific offered a 50% off  Incheon / Busan flights to South Korea - obviously I grabbed the deal! Yes, you may wonder why Cebu Pacific- well that's a different story that I have to blog about. But one thing I can say about it is, I am a satisfied Cebu Pacific frequent flyer for the past 6 years. I haven't had any delays nor complaints about their services - lucky for us  I guess.

Anyway, upon our arrival at the Incheon Airport, we were greeted by friendly airport staffs that helped us and led the way for us to the immigration.  The airport was considered  to be one of the top 10 best airports in the world and I must say it is indeed one of the best airports I have been to.

The shopping malls within the airport itself is a haven for shopping addicts like me plus it is tax free.

You can also find the best luxury brands of bags, coffee shops, restaurants and fast food chains plus it has a free Wifi area. The airport itself is very comfortable and clean. I wouldn't mind sleeping while waiting for my flight.

We finally met our tour guide Cecil, she was very fluent in English. The first thing that she told us was "Go get your coats! It's 0 C outside! " What the....!!!!  Yes, I know that it was still cold during our visit but I never imagined it to be that cold. It's our first time to travel in this kind of season. Cecil told us that it is called late winter season for them since it's already the end of March. She also told us that it will be colder during the night time and during our first day of stay which would be on top of Mt. Seorak and Nami Island.

We got our bags and out we went, the cool air greeted us and I did not expect it to be that cold, freezing cold!I had 5 tops namely: shirt, thermal wear, long sleeves, sweater and my bubble jacket. For the pants I had a thermal pants, jeans, gloves and boots. It wasn't enough to make me warm! :( We headed to our bus and it was such a delight to know that our bus was so big and comfy for all of us plus it is a private coach which is exclusive just for our use. Once inside the bus, it was still cold, we have to ask our driver to turn on the heater.

We went to a local restaurant to have our breakfast. It consist  of noodle soup with side dishes of Kimchi and radishes. Our first taste of Korean food. I am glad that they prepared this soup for breakfast, it help us to be warm and full for our long trip to the mountains which is for 3 hours.

So off we go up to the mountains! Mt. Seorak here we come!

Shut Up! Flower Boy Band Rocks!

I admit I'm one of those Korean Junkies. It all started when I got curious to what my sister in law is always raving about, I guess I got influenced so I started to watch a Korean Novela. I borrowed one of her DVD's and got hooked instantly. I remember my first korean novela, it was called Princess Hours. A cute comedy film about a Royal Couple. My husband saw me and was asking why I am up so late during the wee hours of the night, he eventually watched it and he liked it too.
There is really something special about this Korean Films, they just got this magic like touch to their movies, they come up with interesting plots and mostly their endings are beyond imaginable.

This is my latest addiction - Shut Up! Flower Boy Band . It is a story about a High School Rock band. They love their music and is passionate about it.The movie also features their life as a student, friendship and teen love. (sighs!) Makes me feel like a teenager again... not that I'm too old! (ehem!)

So my sleepless nights continues. They are being shown every Tuesday and Wednesday at TVN 360 Asia's Channel and had a premiere showing last April 23. This week they are on Episode 9 already.10 pm.

I admit I cheated! I watched and finished the whole episodes thru blog network sites which I will be sharing with you. The network that I got have English subtitles. Even though I finished the whole movie, it did not stop me from watching it on the cable channel. Before I forget anything, the songs on the Original Soundtrack is the best. Even if I don't really understand them (language barrier) but I can say the beat and melodies really fits the movie itself. Some network sites also shared the English version of the songs and once you know about it, you'll understand what I am saying.
